The Institute of Payroll Professionals (IPP) has revealed that it is one of a number of organisations working with HMRC and the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) on payroll guidance on the ‘fit note’.
The ‘fit note’ comes in from April 2010 and general guidance has already been published by DWP, but questions remain about how it will link in with Statutory Sick Pay and the like.
The new guidance is described by the IPP as ‘imminent’.
SME businesses worried about how the fit note will work in practice will have access to a pilot advice line. It will be available to owners and managers in organisations with between 0-249 employees and employees working at organisations with up to 249 employees.
